Segurança Social Payment Dates 2026
Segurança Social pays pensions, the CSI and the PSI on 8 October and 6 November 2026, child benefit (abono de família) on 16 October and 16 November, and RSI on 23 October and 23 November. CGA pensions are paid on the 19th or the working day before. The December calendar has not been published yet. Pick the benefit and see how many days are left.

How this works
Segurança Social publishes a calendar with one day per benefit, and its portal shows three months at a time. The tool uses only dates published by Segurança Social and the Caixa Geral de Aposentações (CGA), counts the days from today and, when the next month is not out yet, says so instead of guessing.

In October, pensioners who are former servicemen (antigos combatentes) also get the yearly Suplemento and Complemento Especial de Pensão, paid automatically together with the pension. For how much a pension rises in January, see the 2027 pension increase.
December 2026: what is already known
Segurança Social had not published the December calendar by 13 October 2026. Three things are already certain:
- CGA pensions are paid on 18 December, because the 19th is a Saturday. The CGA Christmas payment comes earlier, in November.
- Segurança Social pensioners get an extra amount in December equal to their monthly pension (art. 41 of Decreto-Lei 187/2007).
- Pensioners with pensions up to €1,611.39 get, automatically and once, the extraordinary supplement of €100, €150 or €200 approved by the Council of Ministers on 17 September 2026, paid in December. Details on the pension increase page.
In every published month of 2026, pensions fell on the 8th or the last working day before it. In December 2026 the 8th is a public holiday (Tuesday, Imaculada Conceição). December can also break the pattern: in 2025, RSI and the 2nd payment came on 22 December, before Christmas, not on their usual days.

The usual day for each benefit
The pattern seen in the eight months of 2026 with an official calendar available. Segurança Social publishes no rule for weekends and holidays: this is a reading of the dates, not a guarantee.

CGA pensions: 2026 dates
The Caixa Geral de Aposentações pays retirement, survivor, disability and preço de sangue pensions on the 19th of each month or the working day before, always by credit to a bank account. The 2027 dates are published at the start of the year on the CGA payments page.

The 14th month is paid in July and the Christmas payment in November; in 2026 the pensions of those months are paid on 17 July and 19 November. At the CGA, IRS and health-scheme deductions also apply to both.

Why the date changes from benefit to benefit
Each benefit has its own day in the official calendar. Pensions are run by the Centro Nacional de Pensões; child benefit, unemployment benefit, sick pay, parental benefit and RSI by the Instituto da Segurança Social. CGA pensions belong to another body, the Caixa Geral de Aposentações, with a calendar of its own.
Unemployment, sickness, parental and social action benefits have two dates a month (1st and 2nd payment, around the 16th and the 28th). The calendar does not say which one applies to each person: check the payments already issued in “Consultar recebimentos da Segurança Social” on the portal. For what sick pay (baixa médica) is worth, there is a separate calculator.
Rendas, the Fundo de Garantia Salarial and the Subsídio por Suspensão da Atividade Cultural are paid by bank transfer only. All the other benefits in the calendar can be paid by transfer or by postal order (vale de correio).
Weekends, holidays and your bank
The CGA has a written rule: if the 19th falls on a Saturday, Sunday or holiday, it pays on the working day before (17 April, 17 July, 18 September and 18 December 2026). Segurança Social publishes no rule, but in every 2026 month with a calendar available it paid earlier, never later: 8 November is a Sunday, so pensions come on Friday the 6th. The one exception was occupational disease, which in May moved from Sunday the 3rd to Monday the 4th.
The calendar date is the day Segurança Social pays. When the money shows in your account depends on the bank receiving the transfer: it may appear that day or only on the next working day. The postal order is issued by CTT and delivered to your address, so it can arrive after the calendar date. The 2026 and 2027 public holidays are on the holidays page.
How to check your payments online
- General calendar: on the portal home page, “Pagamentos” box, or Pagamentos e dívidas > Valores a receber da Segurança Social > Calendário. No login needed.
- Your own payments: log in and go to Pagamentos e dívidas > Valores a receber da Segurança Social > Recebimentos em falta, then “Consultar recebimentos da Segurança Social”.
- Bank account (IBAN): “Consultar e alterar conta bancária”, in the quick-access menu on the home page. Being paid by transfer avoids waiting for the postal order to be delivered.
- CGA pensioners: CGA Directa shows the latest monthly pension statements, the IRS statement and the pensioner card.
Payment missing? What to do
- Check the date and the method. The 1st and 2nd payments of unemployment, sickness and parental benefits are 10 to 14 days apart, and a postal order can take longer than a transfer.
- See in “Consultar recebimentos da Segurança Social” whether the payment was issued.
- If it was returned (wrong account, postal order not cashed), ask for it to be reissued online under Recebimentos em falta. With a valid bank account on file, the new attempt goes out on the next scheduled payment date. You have 5 years from the month the payment order was issued; on paper, use form PA 25.
- By phone: Linha Segurança Social 210 545 400 or 300 502 502, working days 9:00 to 18:00. CGA: 217 807 807, working days 8:30 to 16:30.
- Pensioners living in Belgium, Canada, Cabo Verde, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom or Switzerland: without the proof of life (prova de vida), the pension is suspended from November 2026. It resumes once the situation is sorted, with the withheld amounts paid back.
