How do I book an appointment at AIMA?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the matter, and for most there is no open online booking. Renewals run through the Portal de Renovações and services.aima.gov.pt; documents, data changes and the CRUE go through the contact form; permanent residence is booked by e-mail to geral@aima.gov.pt with the subject "Agendamento de Concessão/Renovação de AR permanente"; biometrics and cards depend on a summons sent by AIMA. For the rest, stores serve by ticket in the time windows in the table above. If somebody sells you an "AIMA appointment", it is fraud: AIMA does not charge for scheduling.

Question 2

I got an e-mail, or saw a site, selling appointments. Is it real?

Accepted Answer

No. AIMA has repeatedly warned about fake sites, such as "SEFAIMA", which copy the official design and were charging €58 for appointments that do not exist, and about fraudulent e-mails announcing appointments never booked. The only official domains end in aima.gov.pt (the portal, services, contactenos, portal-renovacoes) and the only general e-mail is geral@aima.gov.pt. AIMA does not charge for scheduling and does not summon you to appointments you never asked for. Do not click links in those e-mails and do not pay middlemen anything.

What is AIMA’s NIF/NIPC and address?

Accepted Answer

The corporate tax number of the Agência para a Integração, Migrações e Asilo, I.P. is 517 686 260, with head office at Avenida António Augusto de Aguiar, 20, 1069-119 Lisbon, the same building as the Lisboa I store. That is the number you use when you need to identify AIMA in applications, powers of attorney, payment proofs or registered mail.

What is the Alameda Mahatma Gandhi centre?

Accepted Answer

It is the Estrutura de Missão’s service centre for clearing pending cases, installed in the Lisbon Hindu Community’s building at Alameda Mahatma Gandhi, Telheiras (1600-500 Lisboa). It runs extended hours and strictly by summons: AIMA e-mails you the day and time, normally for biometrics on backlog cases, and there is no walk-in service at all. If you need service in Lisbon without a summons, the stores are Lisboa I (Av. António Augusto de Aguiar) and Lisboa II (Anjos, information only).

Question 5

The Leiria store is closed. Where do I go?

Accepted Answer

Face-to-face service in Leiria is temporarily unavailable and appointments are being rebooked to other stores. The official alternatives are the Coimbra and Figueira da Foz stores, within each one’s hours and tickets, and the 217 115 000 contact centre for general information. For local support without case consultation, there are the CLAIM offices in Leiria, Alcobaça, Bombarral, Caldas da Rainha, Castanheira de Pera, Marinha Grande, Óbidos, Peniche and Pombal.

My residence card was returned to AIMA. Where do I collect it?

Accepted Answer

Cards go out by registered mail with delivery confirmation; if nobody receives it and the CTT pickup window lapses, the card returns to AIMA. If your case ran through services.aima.gov.pt, you will get an e-mailed summons with the store and day for collection, and only on that day and store can you pick it up, in person or through a representative with a specific power of attorney. If your case ran another way, go to the store where you filed. Watch your e-mail, spam included, and keep your address current with AIMA, Segurança Social and the tax office.

I am a lawyer or solicitor. How does service work?

Almost every store has a daily or weekly window reserved for lawyers and solicitors, with per-professional limits (typically 2-3 case enquiries, 1 certificate request). The windows are in the table above, store by store. Since July 2026 the Lisboa II store (Anjos) has had a dedicated room for lawyers and solicitors, created in cooperation with the Bar Association and the Solicitors’ Order.

I need to post original documents. Where to?

When you cannot submit documents online in your personal area, AIMA points to two PO boxes: Apartado 42004, Loja CTT Telheiras, Rua Prof. Mário Chicó, 2 M, 1601-801 Lisboa; and Apartado 55002, Ponto CTT Campo Alegre, Rua do Campo Alegre, 254, 4151-902 Porto. It is also the circuit for original criminal-record certificates from countries other than Brazil and Cape Verde (those two upload online). The passport never goes by post: verification is always in person, at the place and date in the notification.
